Windsor Chair - Sackback
One of the most recognized Windsor chair styles. This is likely the most comfortable wooden chair that you will ever sit in. The original chairmakers got this design right in the late 1700's and it hasn’t changed since! The oval seat is not as deep as some, but is wider and is a very comfortable chair. It can easily fit at a desk or under the dining table. The spindles are shaped with a draw knife and spoke shaves. The seat is scooped out by hand. The arm and bow are steamed bent the same way they were in the 1780's. This is the true definaition of a hand crafted chair that will become a Family hierloom and handed down for many generations.
Stain Quality
We prefer Sherwin Williams deck stains for my outdoor furniture. Below are a variety and the most common stain colors that I use. The Solid stain colors last longer and hold up better if your chairs will be exposed directly to the weather. Semi-Transparent stains do show the grain pattern of the Cypress wood better but will require more maintenance after a year or so, depending on how much weather/exposure they get.
